The Art House Presents
The Sydney Symphony
Performs
Britten's Serenade
Intimate Dreamscapes
Benjamin Britten is a legend of 20th century music; a prolific composer who wrote film music, opera, choral music and symphonies. But he’s perhaps most celebrated for his chamber music, and two of these remarkable works are presented by the musicians of the Sydney Symphony. In a rare treat, they will be joined by Stefan Dohr, acclaimed Principal Horn of the Berlin Philharmonic and the sensational Australian tenor Andrew Goodwin, who will together reveal Britten’s compelling genius.
The rebellious, creative spirit also marks Dimitri Shostakovich’s work, celebrated here with a rare performance of this beautiful and powerful Chamber Symphony, which captures the soul of one of the Russian’s great, lyrical string quartets.
